Dudamel Conducts Mahler – FEB 28-MAR 3 –
The LA Phil presents Dudamel Conducts Mahler February 28-March 3 at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Although Mahler did begin composing yet another symphony, his Ninth feels like a valedictory piece, filled as it is with sighing gestures and a time-stopping finale of rumination and resignation. It’s hard to overstate the emotions it engenders.
Dudamel & Yuja Wang – MAR 7-10 –h
The LA Phil presents Dudamel & Yuja Wang March 7-10 at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Gustavo Dudamel will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a sweeping performance of Mahler’s beloved song-filled symphony, rife with quintessential Mahlerian touches: nature-inspired lyricism, a funeral march, and explosive crescendos. The astounding Yuja Wang will join to give the first-ever performances of John Adams’ newest piano concerto.
