Spring, the season for a precious vegetable : white asparagus
Are you craving white asparagus? While you might be able to find the ‘white gold’ as it is often referred to also at different times of the year, the real season for this ‘royal vegetable’ is spring, and Germany is getting ready for its traditional ‘Spargelzeit’ (Asparagus season).
Germans love their ‘Spargelzeit’ and restaurants all over are including the treasured vegetable in their menus in various versions. But nothing tastes as authentic than white asparagus simply served with pure melted butter, small potatoes and thin slices of ham on the side. A glass of white wine tops off a deliciously light dinner.
